We are the Quayle Family and we didn’t want to wait any longer to make a difference in the world. There is never a “right time” to do something like we are doing and it took us awhile to realize it and just go for it. In the Summer of 2018 we set off from home and ended up 3,000 miles away in Panajachel, Guatemala. This was our “home base” while we reached out to neighboring communities and provided much needed dental care. We have four kids (14, 11, 9 and 5 years old). We want to give our kids the opportunity to see the world and think beyond themselves. We want to give them a broader vision for life. We want to write a better story for our family. Some call us crazy, others call us dreamers. Regardless of what they say, we are going for it.
6 Years ago our family began planning to accomplish our goal of moving to rural Guatemala for a year to provide this care. During this planning period we determined there was not a current non-profit organization to help us accomplish our unique goal. Because a path didn’t exist, we created our own. In 2017 we established Mason Gives. Mason Gives, Inc., a 501(c)(3), was established to help us accomplish our goal of providing comprehensive dental care for the children and their parents in impoverished areas everywhere but especially in the highlands of Guatemala.
The name of the organization is derived after the nickname of the mascot for our pediatric dental offices, Mountain View Pediatric Dentistry. Our mascot is a large moose with a sparkling smile. His name is Mason. We wanted our patients families to be able to associate our fun-loving and charismatic moose with caring and giving to children all over the world. Mason Gives goal is to provide care to impoverished areas of Guatemala and throughout the world for years to come.
Because we donate our time as a family and have sought other professionals and corporations to donate their time, supplies and expertise we can promise your donations go directly to the dental needs of impoverished families. Mason Gives, Inc is a non-profit organization, 501(c)(3), recognized by the IRS. Therefore, your donations are tax deductible.
In the Summer of 2019 we returned back to the United States. We accomplished our goal of living in a developing country and providing much needed dental education and comprehensive dental care. During our year in Guatemala we learned so much about their culture, the needs of the people and how we can provide even better care in the future. Stay with us as we move into the next chapter of educating and giving in Guatemala.
